The Women in Mining and Energy Awards (WiMEA) is an annual event organized by Ianmatsun Global Services Ltd. Conceptualized out of the concern about the effects of the limited presence and participation of women in top leadership positions in the various operations along the value chain in the mining and energy sector, the awards seek to advance women’s participation and leadership in Ghana’s mining and energy sector.
The event is dedicated to recognizing and honoring the exceptional achievements and contributions of women in the mining and energy sectors. The awards were established to highlight the vital role that women play in these industries, inspire future generations, and promote gender diversity and inclusion.
WiMEA was first launched in august 2021 and has since become a prominent and highly regarded event in the mining and energy sectors. Over the years, it has gained recognition for its commitment to celebrating women’s accomplishments, raising awareness of gender diversity, and advocating for equal opportunities within the industry.
The primary objectives of the Women in Mining and Energy Awards (WIME) are as follows:
- Recognition: To acknowledge and celebrate the outstanding achievements, leadership, and contributions of women in the mining and energy sectors.
- Inspiration: To inspire and motivate young women to pursue careers in mining and energy by providing visible role models and success stories.
- Promote Gender Diversity: To advocate for and promote gender diversity and inclusion within the mining and energy industries, thereby creating a more balanced and equitable working environment.
- Networking and Collaboration: To facilitate networking and collaboration among industry professionals, organizations, and stakeholders to support the advancement of women in mining and energy.
- Promote Women Leadership: To advocate for increase in women representation in leadership and decision making roles in the industries.
